Do you ever read a quote that has been put there and wonder “What the hell is that supposed to mean?”
I do it all the time, because as a communications coach I appreciate that words can inspire an emotional reaction, without them making sense. So, I make the effort to re-read what is being said.
I came across this one a few weeks ago and it is the quote that inspired this series of blogs. I was networking on Facebook and this was posted in someone’s stream…” Hustle in silence, let your success make the noise.”
As a confident introvert, I loved this. It meant my success would be heard far and wide and I would get to work in my quiet office, without having to put my extrovert hat on. Yeah?
As nice as it sounds, and as appealing to my British sense of modesty, it just doesn’t really work like that. To get that success, in corporate or in your own business you need to put yourself out there and you cannot fall prey to modesty.
This does not mean you can become loud and arrogant, but it means you have to put yourself out of your comfort zone. You have to shout out what you can do. You cannot do that in silence.
If, like me, you find having to put yourself out there, talk to lots of people, or maybe for you it is making lots of presentations that you find difficult, then lets chat. I can help you be clever in your communication, so you can maximise the impact of stepping outside of your comfort zone. Then you can get your career success without the career communication stress.
